Intención y actitudes de estudiantes universitarios/as brasileños/as hacia la vacuna COVID-19

La vacunación es una importante medida preventiva para reducir la pandemia de COVID-19 y su impacto en términos de morbilidad, mortalidad y hospitalizaciones. Además, pueden representar una estrategia importante para la vuelta a la "normalidad" en los campus universitarios. El presente estudio examina las actitudes hacia la vacuna COVID-19 y su relación con la intención de recibir la vacuna COVID-19 en estudiantes universitarios/as. Se realizó un estudio transversal en marzo de 2021 con una muestra de cohorte de 238 estudiantes matriculados en una universidad brasileña. Se utilizó un cuestionario anónimo en línea que incluía información sobre datos sociodemográficos, una escala de actitudes y creencias sobre la vacuna COVID-19 y una pregunta sobre la intención de recibir la vacuna COVID-19. Los estudiantes encuestados mostraron una elevada intención de recibir la vacuna COVID-19 (M = 9,53; DE = 1,71) cuando se les ofrecía. Los estudiantes eran más propensos a recibir la vacuna COVID-19 cuando tenían actitudes generales más positivas hacia la vacuna (b = .904, p < .001) y creencias más débiles de que la vacuna causaría efectos adversos o sería insegura (b = -.768, p < .001). Este tipo de información es fundamental para que las universidades inviertan en campañas para desmitificar los efectos secundarios de las vacunas.
