Abstract

O uso dos gestos comunicativos durante o período pré-linguístico são fundamentais para o desenvolvimento de competências comunicativas e linguísticas. Este estudo analisou as características dos gestos e das funções comunicativas veiculadas por crianças portuguesas dos 8 aos 18 meses de idade, registados durante a interação com os pais. Os resultados indicam um aumento de complexidade no uso dos tipos de gestos e funções comunicativas ao longo das faixas etárias. Salienta-se que, embora a frequência dos atos comunicativos aumente nas crianças mais velhas, se observa a diminuição do uso do gesto decorrente da emergência do uso da palavra.
