El archivo-barro de Augusta Savage (1892-1962): Una artista-docente en el Renacimiento de Harlem

Augusta Savage, escultora y docente afroestadounidense, fue una figura clave del Renacimiento de Harlem. Este artículo propone una exploración de su práctica pedagógica —escasamente documentada— a través de lo que denominamos su archivo-barro, un corpus especulativo que reúne testimonios de estudiantes, archivos fragmentarios y fuentes apócrifas. La investigación indaga en sus enseñanzas durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, considerando su biografía como vía de acceso a su metodología y a su vínculo con la materialidad del barro. Desde una perspectiva que entrelaza arte, vida y enseñanza, se plantea una lectura de Savage como artista-docente, visibilizando un legado marginado por razones de género, raza y clase. El artículo busca así incorporar este referente contrahegemónicos a las narrativas de la educación artística, conectando figuras como Savage con la diversidad que habita hoy las aulas.
