ÓSCAR JUANATEY BOGA

Óscar Juanatey Boga (1976-2023) pursued a degree in Economic and Business Sciences and completed his doctoral studies under the guidance of Professor Dr. Valentín Alejandro Martínez Fernández. At a very early age, he joined the faculty of the Universidade da Coruña, his alma mater.

Beyond his human qualities, notable for being a beloved person of recognized kindness, Professor Juanatey had a prolific professional career. In the academic realm, he conceived significant research related to audiovisual media, tourism, and neuromarketing. He published prominent scientific articles on topics such as the credibility of online press, the future of public radio and television, innovation in the media, and print media in the face of the digital society. He also supervised numerous doctoral theses.

Additionally, he participated as a researcher in various national and international projects sponsored by organizations such as the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, the Xunta de Galicia, the Federation of Autonomous Radio and Television Organizations (FORTA), or the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). In the later years of his career, he served as the principal investigator, alongside Professors Martínez Fernández and Campos Freire, for the important project "Study of the current situation, trends, and social and economic impact of the periodic publications industry in Spain in the European context," funded by the National Association of Publication Distributors (ANDP).

Óscar Juanatey was for a long time co-director and co-editor of the Redmarka Journal of Applied Marketing and secretary of the Business Department at the Universidade da Coruña.

 

ÓSCAR JUANATEY AWARD

The award aims to commemorate the figure of Óscar Juanatey-Boga, director-editor of the Redmarka journal, for his valuable contribution to creating a space for the reflection of marketing experts.

Annually, the award will be granted to the most outstanding article published in the Redmarka journal. The selection of the winning article follows a mixed formula. Firstly, the editorial team of Redmarka will choose the ten articles with the highest visibility and scientific contribution. In a second phase, the award will be conferred through deliberation and decision by an expert marketing jury.

The following criteria will be taken into consideration:

  1. Originality of the proposal: The article will be evaluated based on the uniqueness of its theme or methodology. It should present an innovative approach that, at the time, represented a relevant contribution or that can serve as a model for future studies.
  2. Scientific and methodological quality: Special attention will be given to the theoretical robustness of the article, as well as the rigor of its methodology.
  3. Academic, professional, or social relevance: Possible practical applications that the article may offer will be analyzed, facilitating the orientation of subsequent research or the development of professional activities.
