Phubbing e adaptação psicoemocional em contextos educativos: Relação com o sexo e o tipo de estudos

O presente estudo analisa o fenómeno do «phubbing» entre estudantes e a sua relação com variáveis sociodemográficas, psicoemocionais e tecnológicas em contextos educativos. Foi realizado um estudo transversal de caráter descritivo-correlacional com uma amostra de 2 086 estudantes com idades compreendidas entre os 14 e os 27 anos, através de um questionário de autoavaliação aplicado nos estabelecimentos de ensino. Foram utilizados instrumentos validados para avaliar o «phubbing», a autoestima, as dificuldades emocionais e comportamentais, a regulação emocional interpessoal e a utilização problemática da Internet. Os resultados mostram que o phubbing é um comportamento frequente e observaram-se diferenças significativas em função do tipo de estudos, com níveis mais elevados nos estudantes universitários, enquanto não se verificaram diferenças em função do sexo. O modelo multivariável indicou que o uso problemático da Internet apresentou a associação independente mais consistente com o phubbing, tendo-se observado também associações significativas com a idade e com as dificuldades emocionais e comportamentais. Em conjunto, os resultados sugerem que o «phubbing» é um fenómeno multifatorial com implicações relevantes para o bem-estar e a convivência em contextos educativos, o que reforça a necessidade de desenvolver estratégias psicoeducativas orientadas para uma utilização saudável e autorregulada da tecnologia.
