A procrastinação académica e a sua relação com o consumo de álcool em estudantes universitários

O consumo de álcool e a procrastinação académica são fenómenos relativamente frequentes entre os estudantes universitários/as, tendo sido associados a dificuldades nos processos de autorregulação. Este estudo analisou a relação entre os perfis de consumo de álcool e a procrastinação académica numa amostra transversal de 567 estudantes universitários/as de Castela e Leão (Espanha), com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 35 anos (M = 20,5; 78,8 % mulheres). As variáveis foram avaliadas através do teste AUDIT e da Escala de Procrastinação Académica (EPA). Os resultados revelaram diferenças nos perfis de consumo consoante a idade e o género, enquanto a procrastinação académica variava em função da área de estudos frequentada. Os/as estudantes com consumo problemático obtiveram pontuações significativamente mais elevadas em procrastinação, especialmente nas dimensões de má gestão do tempo e assunção de riscos, tendo-se detetado diferenças críticas entre os perfis extremos de consumo. A análise de regressão confirmou uma associação significativa entre os perfis de consumo de álcool e a procrastinação total, embora com um um tamanho de efeito reduzido. Os resultados sugerem uma relação específica entre o consumo problemático de álcool e as dimensões da procrastinação ligadas à autorregulação, que deve ser interpretada em termos não causais. De uma perspetiva psicoeducativa, estas descobertas podem orientar ações preventivas universitárias destinadas a reforçar a gestão do tempo, o autocontrolo emocional e a tomada de decisões face a comportamentos de risco.
