P fenómeno do phubbing em estudantes universitários/as: Um estudo exploratório

Embora hoje em dia o uso das tecnologias permita obter múltiplos benefícios, é necessário estar ciente das repercussões negativas que elas podem desencadear. O phubbing, que consiste em ignorar outra pessoa durante uma conversa usando um telemóvel, interferindo na comunicação interpessoal e nas relações sociais, é um dos muitos problemas que surgiram recentemente. Esta investigação visa analisar em que medida o phubbing está presente entre a juventude universitária espanhola, bem como os efeitos que pode gerar. Recorreu-se a uma metodologia quantitativa, aplicando-se a Escala de phubbing, na sua versão validada para o contexto espanhol, a 441 estudantes de diferentes cursos universitários pertencentes ao âmbito educativo e psicoeducativo. Os resultados indicam um nível moderado de phubbing, particularmente nos itens associados à obsessão por estar constantemente atento ao telemóvel. Em qualquer caso, conclui-se que é necessário implementar medidas que previnam uma maior incidência deste fenómeno e, sobretudo, minimizem os riscos psicológicos, sociais e educativos associados à dependência dos smartphones.
