Impacto de un programa de formación oncológico sobre los conocimientos del personal de enfermería: Un estudio piloto

Resumen
La atención integral a pacientes con cáncer requiere la interacción coordinada de múltiples profesionales de la salud e instituciones especializadas. En este proceso, el personal de enfermería cumple un rol fundamental, por lo que su formación continua y el desarrollo de competencias resultan prioritarios. Estudios previos realizados entre personal de enfermería han evidenciado un nivel de conocimientos subóptimo, tanto en el área de oncología general como en la de cuidados paliativos. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el impacto de un programa de formación en enfermería oncológica, en el marco de un modelo integral de atención. El presente estudio piloto, de diseño prospectivo, cuasi-experimental y con medición pre-test/post-test, se desarrolló durante las fases iniciales de implementación de un Centro Integral Oncológico. Se empleó estadística descriptiva y la prueba de los rangos con signo de Wilcoxon para comparar los puntajes antes y después de la intervención. Doce profesionales de enfermería completaron el programa de formación, observándose mejoras significativas en los puntajes totales, tanto en conocimientos generales de oncología como en los subdominios de conocimiento general, síntomas y farmacología en cuidados paliativos. Los resultados sugieren que una intervención educativa basada en un modelo integral de atención oncológica puede mejorar de forma efectiva los conocimientos del personal de enfermería en áreas clínicas clave.
