Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the thematic trends and patterns of co-authorship in the publications of Colombian journals of Physical Activity, Sport and Physical Education Sciences, from 1979 to 2022. A descriptive bibliometric study of Colombian online journals was carried out, and the information was collected using an ad hoc matrix, analyzing a total of 1775 articles from 10 scientific journals. The following variables were considered: number of authors, sex, evolution of authorship per year, participation of national and international authors, and thematic trends. A significant increase in the number of publications over time was observed. Although national authors predominate in the published manuscripts, there has also been an increase in collaboration with international authors. In addition, there was a predominance of male authors in the publications. The four most recurrent thematic categories were: i) Education, Physical Education, Curriculum and Didactics, ii) Sociocultural Perspectives of Physical Activity, Sport and Physical Education, iii) Assessment of physical fitness and health, and iv) Recreation, leisure and games. On the contrary, few studies related to pathological population, public health and nutrition are observed. This study reveals a significant evolution in CAFDEF research topics in Colombia, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration.
