Abstract

The purpose of this communication is to present the research project "Culture of sustainability and development cooperation: realities and educational perspectives in Galicia and the Dominican Republic (2014 Call for Research Grants for the Development of the Directorate General of External Relations of the Xunta de Galicia), promoted by the Research Group in Social Pedagogy and Environmental Education of the University of Santiago de Compostela in group with the ONGD InteRed Galicia. The aim of this research is to know and analyze the keys to building a culture of environmental sustainability and cooperation between students and teachers in Galicia and the Dominican Republic, seeking to promote intercultural dialogue, sustainability and global citizenship. To achieve this goal, taking into account the complexity of the topic, we opted for a qualitative research methodology, supported by three techniques: discussion groups, analysis of discourse in textbooks and analysis of iconographic representations. The originality of this project lies in the complementarity of the research work with a process of internal training of the research group, as well as training and intercultural dialogue between schools, seeking the social impact and applicability of the results from the initial phase of the research process.
