Abstract

We present a review of the latest work given us by Professor Ángel Serafín Porto Ucha and Professor Raquel Vázquez Ramil: The active school and the environment. An approximation through the walks, visits and excursions during the second republic. Both authors are studious of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, on which they have completed their doctoral theses and numerous subsequent studies. In this book they delve into the study of the republican rural school from two figures: the teacher of A Cañiza (Pontevedra), José Benito González Álvarez and the inspector of first teaching of Pontevedra, José Muntada Bach, authors of  “Walks, visits and excursions of the active school”  (1934), which Porto and Vázquez discover for us.

Author Biography

María Julia Diz-López, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela

Profesora del Departamento de Didáctica y Organización Escolar, Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Licenciada en Filosofía y CC. de la Educación. Máster en Agente de Igualdad de Oportunidades, Género y Educación y Diploma de Estudios Avanzados. Ha disfrutado de Becas de investigación de Tercer Ciclo, Pre doctorales y del Museo Pedagógico de Galicia. Miembro del grupo de investigación GEFIL, ha participado en proyectos de investigación autonómicos y europeos relacionados con la formación profesional, orientación académica y profesional, necesidades formativas y cuestiones de género. Cuenta con algunas publicaciones en libros y revistas especializadas relativas a estas temáticas. Son especialmente significativos por su sentido en la trayectoria personal de investigación los siguientes trabajos:
