Author Guidelines

1. The authors will send their papers to the Editorial Office, which will acknowledge receipt of them.Any publication will depend on the criteria of the Editor’s Council and the result of the external evaluation (double blind) to which they will be submitted.
2.The documents must be submitted in computer format, and the software and word processor version must be specified. O corpo do orixinal must be in the following format: Arial Narrow letter size 12, with interlinear space of 1.5 duly numbered. The style sequence will be as follows: Arial Narrow size 12 (text), 11 (separate citations) and 10 (notes); 1,5 interline (text) and 1 (separate citations and notes); "round or high" quotation marks (first level) and 'simple' (second level); for the titles two headings in progression will be: uppercase, blackish, blackish-cursive, without number in any two cases.
3.The authors will send the following data to the archive: name and surnames, affiliation: work centre, full address, telephone number and e-mail, as well as the ORCID number. ORCID must be registered at the following address: https://orcid.org/

4. The title of each work should be limited to the title. In the case of a study, an abstract in the language in which the text is written and one in English, with a maximum length of 150 words, and a proposal for 5 keywords shall be included below, which may be modified by the Drafting Committee following criteria of appropriateness and dissemination. Keywords should be included in all cases regardless of the nature of the work: documents, studies, reviews, etc
5.The length of studies should not normally exceed 10,000 words, including footnotes. In the case of reviews, they shall never be less than 2000 words and may not exceed 6000. The scope of the introductory studies of documents will depend on the nature of the documents and will be agreed with the Drafting Committee.
6. The journal will use the Chicago system style notes-bibliography. Footnotes will have a font size of 10. For the remission, flipped numbers shall be used, always written after the punctuation marks. When the nature of the work requires, another style of quotation may be used, to be agreed with the Drafting Committee.
7. Quotations longer than 50 words should be separated from the text and written without initial or final quotation marks and with a 1 cm indent to the left.
8. When a part of the text is omitted in literal quotations, it shall be indicated with ellipses between square brackets; for the indents or clarifications the long hyphen shall be used; the numbers from 1 to 10 shall be written in letters; unless the context in which they appear suggests otherwise.
9.The tables, graphs and illustrations shall be presented in a specific file, appropriately titled and numbered; the place where they are to be inserted shall be indicated on the original of the study, that it will be respected to the extent permitted by the mock-up of the edition.

10.The journal publishes the papers in Galician, Portuguese and Spanish.

12.The Sarmiento magazine adopts the Chicago standard as its bibliographic and documentary reference system, which basically meets the criteria summarised below. For any doubt or specific question that is not covered here, you should refer to the official regulations, which can be found in the link that hosts the word Chicago.

The Sarmiento Magazine adopts the notes-bibliography system, which is summarized here for your better understanding. We reiterate that in case of doubt the official reference of the Chicago System should be used.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Normas de publicación

  1. Os autores enviarán os seus traballos á Secretaría de Redacción, que acusará recibo dos A súa publicación dependerá do criterio do Consello editor e do resultado da avaliación externa (dobre cego) á que serán sometidos.
  2. Os orixinais deberán presentarse en soporte informático, e especificarse o programa e versión do procesador de texto. O corpo do orixinal deberá axustarse ao seguinte formato: letra Arial Narrow tamaño 12, con espazo interlinear de 1,5 debidamente numerada. A secuencia de estilo será a que sigue: Arial Narrow tamaño 12 (texto), 11 (citas separadas) e 10 (notas); interlineado 1,5 (texto) e 1 (citas separadas e notas); aspas “redondas ou altas” (primeiro nivel) e ‘simples’ (segundo nivel); para os títulos dos epígrafes a progresión será: maiúsculas, negriña, negriña-cursiva, sen numerar en ningún dos casos.
  3. Os autores remitirán en arquivo á parte os seguintes datos: nome e apelidos, filiación: centro de traballo, enderezo completo, teléfono e correo electrónico, ademais do número de ORCID. Se non dispón do ORCID debe rexistrarse na seguinte dirección: https://orcid.org/
  4. Na cabeceira de cada traballo deberá figurar unicamente o título. Cando se trate dun estudo, incluirase a continuación un resumo realizado no idioma en que se redacte o texto e outro en inglés, cunha extensión máxima de 150 palabras, e unha proposta de 5 palabras chave, que poderán ser modificadas polo Comité de Redacción seguindo criterios de idoneidade e difusión. As palabras chave deben incorporarse en todos os casos con independencia da natureza do traballo: documentos, estudos, reseñas, etc
  5. A extensión dos estudos non debe exceder polo regular as 10.000 palabras, incluídas as notas a pé de páxina. No caso das reseñas nunca serán inferiores ás 2000 palabras nin poderan excederse das 6000. A amplitude dos estudos introdutorios dos documentos dependerá da natureza destes, e será acordada co Comité de Redacción.
  6. A revista utilizará o estilo notas-bibliografía propio do sistema Chicago. As notas a pé terán un tamaño de fonte de 10. Para a remisión utilizaranse números voados, que se escribirán sempre despois dos signos de puntuación. Cando a natureza do traballo o requira poderá empregarse outro estilo de citas, que será acordadado co Comité de redacción.
  7. As citas literais que superen as 50 palabras separaranse do texto e escribiranse sen aspas iniciais nin finais e cunha sangría á esquerda de 1 cm.
  8. Cando se omita una parte do texto nas citas literais farase constar con puntos suspensivos entre corchetes; para os incisos ou aclaracións empregarase o guión longo; os números do 1 ao 10 escribiranse en letra, a non ser que o contexto en que aparecen aconselle o contrario.
  9. Os cadros, gráficos e ilustracións presentaranse nun arquivo específico, estarán debidamente titulados e serán numerados correlativamente; no orixinal do estudo indicarase o lugar onde se deben inserir, que será respetado na medida en que o permita a maqueta da edición.
  10. A revista publica os traballos en lingua galega, portuguesa e castelá.
