Abstract
It is necessary to have new formulas for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gases emission creating new opportunities for emission behaviour: side effects cut potential savings obtained through these initiatives. This article briefly describes some of these boomerang effects and analyses causes and actions along with the main types of behaviour response. Furthermore, it identifies challenges of the boomerang effect within communication and environmental education.Boomerang effects make evident the need in recovering a human perception in the mitigation challenge, as well as revealing the difficulty in efficient palliative efforts in climate change if lacking a self limitation culture.
