Journal Policies
1. Open science policy
Redmarka is an international journal committed to the open science model.
It seeks transparency in the publication process, reproducibility of published works, and their reuse.
All its actions aim to make science accessible not only to the academic world but also to citizens, social, political, and economic stakeholders.
This journal follows the following open science practices:
Open Access
The journal's content is openly accessible, allowing anyone to read, download, and reuse its works. Moreover, it falls into the diamond journal category as it does not charge publication or reading fees.
Copyright and Licensing
The intellectual property of the articles published in Redmarka. Revista de Marketing Aplicado belongs to the authors. All content is distributed under the CC BY-SA 4.0 International open-use license, which allows the works to be freely available and reusable under the stated terms.
Authors transfer to the journal the rights for first distribution, reproduction, and public communication of their work. The digital platform used for publishing the journal is open source, specifically Open Journal Systems from Public Knowledge Project.
Research Data
The National Open Science Strategy (ENCA) 2023-2027 defines research data as "all material generated, collected, observed, or recorded during the lifecycle of a research project, recognized by the scientific community, and used as evidence in a research process to validate findings and ensure reproducibility."
As a diamond journal, Redmarka promotes the storage, publication, and dissemination of research data. These data must follow FAIR principles, striving to be as open as possible and as closed as necessary.
Authors are encouraged to adopt best practices when sharing research data and develop data availability agreements.
- Store data in a reliable repository offering necessary services to publish data following FAIR principles. Repository conditions must be reviewed. A repository can be found on re3data.org or FairSharing.
- The chosen repository should provide a persistent identifier (DOI), metadata to identify the dataset, program, etc. (title, authorship, summary, keywords, notes, etc.), allow the publication of multiple versions, facilitate connecting data to other results from the research (posters, articles, conferences, books, etc.), and assign an open-use and reuse license.
- Data, programs, or methodologies should be accompanied by a plain text readme file providing necessary information to consult and reuse data. Efforts should be made to maintain the double-blind review process. A "readme.txt" file explaining data without identifying authors can be used. It is available for download at the following link: modelo_redaccion_readme_eng relleno_anonimo.txt.
- Ensure that data, programs, protocols, etc. are original and do not infringe third-party intellectual property.
- Take special care to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation and other laws regarding personal, industrial, or commercial data protection.
- Meet funders' requirements.
- Data, programs, or methodologies must be correctly cited, in the case of Redmarka, in APA 7th edition style.
- If statistics are accompanied by the codebook, reference them as follows: [Data file and codebook] E.g., Naves, J., Anta, J., Suárez, J., & Puertas, J. (2019). WASHTREET. Runoff velocity data using different Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) techniques in a full-scale urban drainage physical model [Dataset]. Zenodo. http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3239401
Data availability agreements
The research data availability agreement must include the repository name and persistent identifier for access. This agreement will be included after the CRediT taxonomy.
Examples:
-
The data supporting this article are available in [repository name, e.g., Zenodo Repository] at https://dx.doi.org/[DOI].
-
If data cannot be shared due to personal or ethical reasons, use the following statement: The data used in this article cannot be publicly shared due to [explain why the data cannot be shared, e.g., participant privacy]. The data will be shared upon reasonable request to the corresponding author.
-
If data are owned by third parties, indicate as follows: The data used in this article were provided by [third party] under license/permission. The data will be shared upon request from the corresponding author with [third party] permission.
-
If data are under embargo: The data supporting this article are subject to an embargo of [embargo period, e.g., 12 months from the article's publication date]. Once the embargo expires, the data will be available [provide availability details, e.g., in a repository with link; upon reasonable request, etc.].
-
2. Policy on artificial intelligence (AI)
Redmarka recommends reading the European Union's Guide on the Responsible Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) in Research.
For authors
-
AI use is permitted, but authors must disclose the model used, the article section, and the purpose. The journal may request the prompt employed in the work.
-
Authors are advised to verify AI-generated content, avoiding plagiarism, errors, and biases. Authors may include the following declaration: During the preparation of this work, authors used [Name of the tool/service] for [reason]. This content is included in [article section]. After using this tool/service, authors reviewed and edited the content as needed and assume full responsibility for the publication's content.
-
AI cannot be considered an author of the article's content.
For reviewers and editors
-
AI or LLM use for editorial work may impact confidentiality and copyright. The tool or model may learn from input over time and use it to generate outputs accessible to third parties.
-
These tools cannot be used to produce review reports, decision letters, or summaries of unpublished research, as these are considered confidential information.
-
If reviewers suspect improper or undisclosed GAI use in a submission, they must raise their concerns with the journal's editor.
3. Policy on equity, equality and inclusion
Redmarka encourages using inclusive language in article proposals to recognize diversity, convey respect to all individuals, and be sensitive to differences. To facilitate this task, the journal offers a link to the Guide on More Inclusive and Equal Language Usage from Spain's Ministry of Justice. Another useful resource for ensuring equity, equality, and inclusion in works is Chapter 5 of the APA Manual of Publications, 4th edition in Spanish (2021), which contains guidelines for employing bias-free language regarding labels, age, disability, gender, socioeconomic status, and recommended terms for referring to research participants.
Redmarka also promotes multilingualism by accepting works in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
The journal considers diversity, equity, equality, and inclusion as the foundation of every action by the editorial team, review team, and authors, aiming for fairer science for society as a whole.
