This study presents the experiences lived in the execution of the project entitled The Practice of Environmental Education in Public Teaching from the 1st to the 5th year in the Terra Firme neighborhood carried out at the Professor Virgílio Libonati State Elementary and High School (EEEFM), in the Belém city, in the state of Pará.This project had how objective to treat environmental education in a theoretical and practical way through teaching inside and outside the classroom with the implementation of vegetable gardens and landscape areas in the school environment, correlating issues such as soil and seeds, vegetable garden and landscaping, which are of extreme importance for the environment.This is exploratory applied research, using a qualitative approach with data collected from the intervention of a teacher-researcher and using the action research method, based on theoretical and practical knowledge about the concept and importance of the environment. in a multidisciplinary way, with the integration of several areas of knowledge.The main conclusions were that the methodology adopted by the project resulted in the creation of an inter-institutional environment for collective learning in the school environment, enabling greater contact of children with nature, contributing to increasing interest in teamwork, encouraging healthy eating, awakening changes in habits and attitudes about the importance of education and environmental conservation in the daily life of a society.
