Valhöll Fin del Mundo by UTMB is considered the most epic trail running event in Patagonia. Many of the athletes who participate come in search of a sporting experience with spiritual meaning. This article examines that combination of sport and spirituality. The study uses a qualitative methodology in the form of an ethnographic narrative of short stories constructed through field notes, ethnographic interviews, and photographs, as well as reflexive practice and self-ethnographic spiritual development. The results show that the event contributes significantly to the spiritual development and well-being of participants: interpersonally, through interactions within the community of athletes; and intrapersonally, through moments of joy, a deep connection with nature, and the achievement of transcendence and personal purpose.
