Semi-professional football has presented scenarios of high physical demand, especially during periods where there are microcycles of one to three matches per week. This type of demand could compromise athletes' performance, so the objective of this study was to analyse the behaviour of certain physical variables during regular microcycles (one competition per week) and irregular microcycles (two or three competitions per week) in a Colombian semi-professional football team. Four microcycles were evaluated during a competitive period using GPS devices, recording indicators such as total distance, metres per minute, HSR, sprint, accelerations, decelerations and RHIE. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test was applied to the data, showing that most variables did not follow a normal distribution in at least one of the microcycles. Results: Significant differences were found for Total Distance (m) (p = 0.154), Velocity Band 5 Total Distance (m) (p = 0.412), # Sprint (p = 0.377), Accelerations (p = 0.157), Decelerations (p = 0.302) and Meterage Per Minute (p = 0.014). However, there were no significant differences in HSR and RHIE Total Bouts (p > 0.05), highlighting the need to adapt training loads during competitive periods.
