The aim of this article is to make a substantiated assessment of how the deep social and economic crisis that Galician society is suffering is affecting Environmental Education (EA). To this end, a survey was applied to a sample of 101 professionals who have worked or are working in this field in the Autonomous Community of Galicia (Spain). The resulting data allow us to compare their occupational situation at the dawn of the crisis, year 2007, with that they had in early 2013, at the time of applying the survey that empirically supports the study. The theoretical perspective of analysis is based on the notion of social field proposed by Pierre Boudieu, considering EA as a social field with hybrid properties of the environmental and educational fields.
