Abstract

The aim was to create the Pena Environmental Center and the Loulé Environmental Center to respond to local needs in terms of education and environmental awareness. This initiative was born in 1992, the result of an association between the municipality of Loulé and Associação Almargem, after confirming its position in 2009/2010 when the volume of Environmental education activities carried out annually exceeded one hundred and the number of visitors exceeded two thousand. In this article we describe the work developed in the Environmental centers, the methodology used and the results obtained during the academic years 2007/2008 So far. Climate change is a cross-cutting and recurring area in the actions we drive. In 2008/2009 the first project dedicated to climate change emerged and, from 2011/2012 we started the project "Weather station", which in 2014/2015 was followed by a class of the 3rd cycle of basic education, in interconnection with works developed by the School of the Eco-schools program. For the Environmental Center, climate change is a priority, assuming a strong educational component inseparable from the topics we explore daily and which we will continue to give relevance to in the future.
