Military repertoires: a contribution to the history of lexicography for special purposes

After the publication in 1749 of the first military dictionary in Spanish language, by Raimundo Sanz, the lexicographical panorama of our language burst onto the scene with respect to the writing of specialized repertoires in the theme of war. Having said that, the moment of greatest peak for military lexicography is, above all, the 19th century. Because of the relevance of this lexicographical modality, barely studied, we propose in this paper to point out the main characteristics of each of the military dictionaries of Spanish language published over those 18th and 19th centuries.Downloads
