Abstract

Increasing the operational safety of commercial aircraft as much as possible is one of the fundamental design criteria in the aeronautical sector. Operational safety is generally assured if the aircraft does not exceed its design envelopes in each magnitude (speed, load factor, mass, center of gravity, etc.). Pilots are trained to avoid exceeding these envelopes, otherwise the situation would be potentially dangerous (what it is known as upset situation). Therefore, any help to keep the aircraft inside those envelopes is useful. The solution presented here is relative to the center of gravity envelope, applying intelligent techniques to manage fuel distribution in the aircraft so that the total center of gravity remains within its envelope without the need for pilot intervention, applying Fuzzy Logic.
