Abstract

In this essay we offer an overview of the opera The Bohemian Girl by William Balfe (music) and Alfred Bunn (libretto). Beginning with a detailed presentation of the plot, we focus on the musical analysis of three arias, but we make reference to other important sections of the opera. As a conclusion, and taking into account its musical values, and also its success at the time of its première, we propose the recovery and the inclusion of The Bohemian Girl in the current repertoire of opera theatres.
