As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
Document stating that the article has not been published previously in another journal (or a previous explication to the editor).
Document stating that all the research follows the ethical rules, including all the legal requisites from the country where the study was conducted.
Declaration of absence of conflict of interests (or a previous explication to the editor).
Declaration that the manuscript follows the references and style described in the public health and biomedical journals uniformity requisites published by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
The cover letter, title page, manuscript (without identification of the authors), tables, figures, reviewers’ suggestion must be sent separately and in Microsoft Word format.
The article must be written with double space paragraphs, Times New Roman, size 12 letter, with 2.5 cm margins and centered page numeration. In the text should be stated the place to include each table and/or figure.
All sources of financial support for the study conduction (in full or partially) must be stated.
Author Guidelines
Documents should be presented with double space paragraph, in size 12 Times New Roman letter, with 2.5 cm margins, centered number pages and a maximum length of 4000 (for original articles), 1500 (clinical cases) or 3000 words (special communications) – including from the front up to the final page and excluding tables and figures.
To begin with the article evaluation, the author must submit the following files:
Cover letter: signed by all the authors, must contain the study aim and to state that the article is not in evaluation process in another journal and that in case of acceptance the publication rights will be owned by EJPOD.
Title page: full title in Spanish and English (less than 150 characters including spaces). Authors’ first and last name, affiliation (department, institution, city, country and email) and funding source. Corresponding author address, telephone, fax and email. Total number of words in the manuscript (excluding tables and figures).
Main document (without any identification information): title in Spanish, abstract in Spanish with a maximum of 250 words and structures (aims, material and methods, results and conclusions). Key-words: from 3 to 10 keywords, in Spanish, including Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) of the National Library of Medicine. Available terms at: www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/meshhome.html. It must also be included an English version of the title, abstract and key-words, using a similar structure.
The manuscript should be written in an impersonal manner e have the following sections (with the respective headings): aims, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgments and references. If necessary, subheadings to organize each section.
Tables: should be numbered with Arabic numeration by order of appearance. They should be written with double space, in a separate page, with the title above and abbreviations, in alphabetical order, below the table. Its content must be auto explicative and the presented data should not be present in the text or figures. Each table must be sent in a .doc format document.
Figures: should be ordered with Arabic numeration by order of appearance. Graphics and illustrations must be sent in TIFF or JPEG format, with a resolution superior to 300 dpi and dimensions of 9x13 cm (1.535 x 1.063 pixels) and the title below. Figures cannot include data that allow the identification of the institution where the study was conducted or the patient. People photographs must be taken in way to preserve their identity or, if it is not possible, an informed consent of the photographed person must be attached.
Reviewers’ suggestion: with a reasonable explanation that justifies the pertinence of the revision of the manuscript by the suggested peer(s), with the respective first and last name and affiliation (department, institution, city, country and email).
All the approved articles will become permanent property of the European Journal of Podiatry.
